Steve Slaton at Underbelly
This is Steve Slaton. You might remember him and Pat White wreaking havoc from the backfield at West Virginia University. You might remember him being a 3rd round pick of the Houston Texans in the 2008 NFL Draft. You might remember him playing with the Miami Dolphins and/or the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL...but I doubt it. I definitely remember him being a highly rated running back in a couple of iterations of the EA Sports NCAA Football video games. But that's just me.
Now he's in culinary school, rushing to his new career in the kitchen. The homey Joey LoMonaco of The Dominion Post came to Houston to do a story on Mr. Slaton who is currently working at Underbelly, one of the dopest restaurants in town. You should give it a read, here. Shout out to an empty Underbelly. It makes shooting there muuuuuuch easier.

Ted Cruz Rally - Houston, TX
Ahead of the 10th Republican primary debate of the 2016 presidential election cycle, Ted Cruz made a pit stop at Mach Industrial Group here in Houston. He was introduced and endorsed by current Texas Governor Greg Abbott and embraced by hundreds of TrusTed sign holding supporters. There were lights, cameras, Secret Service and not much action. There were boos at the mention of "our current president" and cheers at the invocation of The Alamo. Then there was me, taking pictures and being quiet.

Dobie v. Hightower - High School Basketball Playoffs
I've always thought of Dobie High School athletics as the Little Longhorns because they have an eerily similar resemblance to Austin's professional sports teams. I finally saw them in real life play and win a playoff basketball game against Hightower. Both Hightower and Dobie are currently out of the playoffs but Dobie made it to the regional final while being the 4th best team in their district. In other words, they weren't supposed to be there.

Atascocita v. Klein Forest - High School Basketball Playoffs
Atascocita boys basketball is ranked 5th in the country according to this USA Today national ranking. But I hesitate to call them the best team in Texas because at the moment that this is published, they have yet to play their semi-final game against Sam Houston in the state tournament. Last week, I photographed Atascocita's win over Klein Forest to advance to the regional semi-finals.
