The Imaginary Fort

The Imaginary Fort is a place in Bethesda where a few friends of mine operate the company called Imaginary Feet. Tom McLeod, Emil Anticevic and Patrick Jackson (yep, just shot his wedding) run a tech operation that develops iPhone and web apps, among other things. It's also a place where I go to complete the grueling work of a freelance photographer when I'm not out shooting.

This office employs a strict no-fun policy and anyone who enters soon becomes a 100% productive 9-5 drone. Efficiency rules. Tom, Emil and Pat are the main characters with occasional appearances from interns (what up Perri), ex-interns (Dexter and Tyler "Sham-Wow" Shambora), spouses with no twitter followers (Jenny), affiliates (LowKey and Meredith) and a social media maven (Kate "hope you come back" Gardiner).

Welcome to the Fort.

IAC Lacrosse Championship Landon @ Georgetown Prep

The Battle of Bethesda was a good one. Landon (Bethesda) rallied to beat Georgetown Prep (North Bethesda) 9-8 in the championship game. At one point, Landon was down 5-0 in the first quarter. We all know that you play to win the game, and Landon hung in there and did just that. Read about it here. Shout out to Landon. Their baseball team won the championship earlier in the day.

Episcopal @ Landon Lacrosse IAC Semifinal

I settled in to a spot on the field to shoot this lacrosse game Wednesday afternoon, but Bethesda weather had other plans for me. Right when the game began, so did a torrential downpour. Followed shortly by thunder and lightning. An hour later, the game was postponed and rescheduled for Thursday afternoon.

As expected, Landon beat Episcopal 14-4 to move on to the IAC finals against longtime rival, in everything, Georgetown Prep. So, the battle of Bethesda resumes Saturday May 15th when the two lacrosse powerhouses collide. Shout out to the crease. If you step in it, you'll never score.

Warm LAX: Landon and Coronado

Alright, basketball season is really over this time. On to lacrosse...and sometimes baseball...and maybe even a little spring soccer. I confess, this was actually my second lacrosse game of the season. The first game was a failure that culminated in a combination of unfortunate circumstances. It was still 40 degrees outside + it was windy + the sun was nowhere to be seen + the game was taking forever = me leaving after the 3rd quarter. I know, I know...I'm not proud, but you should have been there. This time, Landon crushed a Coronado team from California who was making an east coast lacrosse trip. Shout out to my two favorite people, Eighty and Sunny...oh how I've missed you so.

Riverdale Baptist @ Landon Football

Headed out to Landon again for their late Friday afternoon game against Riverdale Baptist School. The game was pretty close at the beginning but Landon pulled away and got the win 31-7. The game was called mid-way through the 4th quarter due to a neck injury to a Riverdale Baptist player. An ambulance was called to get him off of the field. I hope the kid is ok.

Mercersburg @ Landon Football

Rare. A Friday football game played under natural light. Probably the most compelling reason that I was at that game in particular. Mercersburg Academy is a team from Pennsylvania that probably made a long trip to Bethesda that day and an even longer trip back. Landon pretty much had their way (hopefully evident in the pictures) in a 30-6 win in which Mercersburg scored in the final seconds of the game and was genuinely excited about it. Read about it here. Shout out to programs that are rebuilding.

Lime is the new Black

This past Sunday, I did a shoot with the creative creators of PageLime. I don't know exactly what they do over there, but you can read this about page and have about the same idea as me. But on a serious note, if you're looking for lime green neckties you can either rob Tom and/or Emil or...yessir. Shout out to umbrellas, oh how I never use thee.
